GREYMETER BETA: END USER LICENCE AGREEMENT
Version 1.0, September 2026. The same text is shown in the installer.
Please read this agreement before installing GreyMeter. By installing or using GreyMeter you agree to it. If you don't agree, don't install or use GreyMeter.
1. WHO WE ARE
GreyMeter is made by Jack Haigh, trading as Grey Mastering ("we", "us"), greymastering.com. Contact: greystuffonly@gmail.com. Licences are sold on our behalf by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the reseller and merchant of record for your purchase.
2. WHAT YOU GET
2.1 When you buy a licence we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use GreyMeter (the VST3 and Audio Unit plug-ins and the standalone app, including updates we give you) on up to three computers that you own or control, for your own personal or commercial audio work.
2.2 Before you buy, you may use GreyMeter free for 14 days to evaluate it. After the trial, GreyMeter needs a licence key to keep working.
2.3 A licence is for one person. Studios and teams need one licence per person using GreyMeter.
3. BETA SOFTWARE
GreyMeter is currently a beta (pre-release) version. It may contain bugs, features may change or be removed, and we may stop supporting a beta version once a newer version is available. You should check critical measurements (for example loudness or true-peak figures for a delivery specification) before relying on them.
4. WHAT YOU MUST NOT DO
You must not: (a) copy GreyMeter, except for installing it as allowed above and for backups; (b) sell, rent, lend, sub-license or otherwise transfer GreyMeter or your licence key, or share your licence key with anyone else; (c) remove, disable or get around the licence check, or help anyone else to; (d) reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble GreyMeter, except where the law allows you to do so despite this restriction; (e) remove or change any copyright, trademark or other notices in GreyMeter.
5. LICENCE CHECKS AND YOUR DATA
5.1 To activate or check a licence, GreyMeter sends your licence key, an activation label identifying the computer model, and the name of your operating system to Polar. It re-checks the key about once a week when you're online, and keeps working offline for up to 30 days after the last successful check.
5.2 GreyMeter analyses audio on your computer only. It doesn't record, store or send any audio anywhere, and it doesn't include analytics or tracking.
5.3 Our GreyMeter Privacy Notice (greymastering.com/greymeter-privacy-notice) explains how we handle personal data.
6. OWNERSHIP
GreyMeter, including its code, design and names, belongs to us and our licensors. We are licensing GreyMeter to you, not selling it. GreyMeter includes third-party components that are provided under their own licences, listed in GreyMeter under Settings > About & Credits.
7. UPDATES
We may provide updates to fix problems or add features. Some updates may be needed for GreyMeter to keep working with new operating systems or hosts.
8. REFUNDS AND YOUR RIGHTS
8.1 Our GreyMeter Refund Policy (greymastering.com/greymeter-refund-policy) explains when we give refunds.
8.2 If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality. Nothing in this agreement affects those rights. Citizens Advice can tell you more about them.
9. OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU
9.1 Nothing in this agreement limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
9.2 If you are a consumer: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this agreement or our failing to use reasonable care and skill. If GreyMeter damages a device or digital content belonging to you because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation. We are not responsible for business losses: if you use GreyMeter for any business purpose, we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
9.3 If you are a business: to the extent the law allows, GreyMeter is provided "as is", we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, and our total liability to you is limited to the price you paid for your licence.
10. ENDING THE LICENCE
10.1 Your licence continues until it ends under this section.
10.2 We may end your licence if you seriously break this agreement, or if your payment is refunded or reversed (for example a chargeback). We'll tell you by email where we can. If your licence ends you must stop using GreyMeter and uninstall it.
10.3 You can deactivate GreyMeter on a computer at any time in Settings > Licence, which frees that activation for another computer.
11. GENERAL
11.1 We may update this agreement for future versions of GreyMeter; the version that applies is the one included with the version you install.
11.2 If a court decides part of this agreement is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
11.3 This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
